  1. Installation of miro drivers for Windows95:
  2.  
  3. Attention: Please don't try to install the miro drivers by running the
  4.            install.exe program. Use the 'change display properties' from
  5.            your control panel.
  6.  
  7. To install the miro drivers, proceed as follows:
  8.  
  9. * If you have not done so already, start your computer
  10. * Open the Control Panel
  11. * Click on Display
  12. * Click the Settings folder
  13. * Select Change Display Type... .The Change Display Type windows appears.
  14.   Here you can change the graphics board and the monitor type.
  15. * To select another graphics board, click on the "Change" button.
  16. * Click "Have Disk..." To specify the disk drive from which you install 
  17.   the drivers: default is drive a:\.
  18.   Now there will be displayed the following model either
  19.   "miro S3 Graphicadapter/PCI", or  "miro S3 Graphicadapter/VLB".
  20.   In case both options will be displayed, please select the model which 
  21.   is corresponding to your miro graphics adapter and click "apply". 
  22.   The computer is restarted. After the restart the new resolutions are 
  23.   available.

  29. In case of problems please watch the following hints:

  31. 1.) Remember that all miroVIDEO graphics boards (VIDEO 20SV, VIDEO 40SV,
  32.     VIDEO 20SD, VIDEO 40SVergo) need an IRQ
  33.  
  34. 2.) In case Windows 95 doesn't start VLB computers, you can change the base-
  35.     address for the linear memory adressing:
  36.  
  37.         System.ini:
  38.         [Display]
  39.         LinBase=<Addresse>
  40.  
  41.         i.e. 40320, 60000, or 104858
  42.  
  43. 3.) For miroVIDEO graphics boards (VIDEO 20SV, VIDEO 40SV, VIDEO 20SD,
  44.     VIDEO 40SVergo) you can switch the hardware scaler off or improved.
  45.     The entry are as follows:

  58.     The Value can be calculated as follows:
  59.       [0 / 1]   for DIB scaling by hardware            [off / on]
  60.     + [0 / 2]   for DIB interpolation by hardware      [off / on]
  61.     + [0 / 4]   for DIB scaling parameteradaption      [off / on]
  62.     + [0 / 256] for DDB scaling by hardware            [off / on]
  63.     + [0 / 512] for DDB interpolation by hardware      [off / on]

  65. 4.) A DIB-engine driver is not usable for Video for Windows, but the
  66.     optimized drivers can be fully used, if the Pinboard will set the 
  67.     entries depending on the selected display mode in the Win.ini file.

  69.     -> If possible start the Pinboard always starting Windows 95. The Pinboard
  70.        will correct the entries of Video for Windows automaticly.

  73. 5.) Using the miro Pinboard it could happen that, the switching from the
  74.     virtual modes into the real modes doesn't work at once. In this case we
  75.     recommend to switch first into the real mode resolution (640 x 480) and
  76.     after this into a higher resolution.

  79. 6.) For the miroCRYSTAL 20SV the highest resolution of 1408 x 1024 in 8 bit is in
  80.     Windows 95 at this time not available. This resolution will be available
  81.     with the next driver update. t couls happen that a resolution will be offered
  82.     in the Controlpanel, but you can't switch to this resolution. This means
  83.     Windows 95 will fall bach to the earlier resolution.

  85. 7.) During the installation of a miroVIDEO 20SD in Windows 95 it could happen
  86.     that both busadapter versions will be displayed. Make sure that you select
  87.     the right businterface, that means either PCI, or VLB, depending of the bus-
  88.     interface of your miro graphics board. Otherwise the miro graphics board can't
  89.     be installed for Windows 95 and the drivers doesn't work.
